Do you like strawberries? To us, a lot!
In Italy it is now strawberry season. Fragola means strawberry in Italian. Basilicata strawberries are the most famous strawberries in Italy. They are grown mainly by the sea and are very red inside and out. The taste, aroma and color are truly unique. There is a brand called Candonga: the characteristics of this strawberry are that it is less caloric than common strawberries, rich in fibre, richer in vitamin C than oranges, rich in folate and has antioxidant properties.
This strawberry is grown from January to mid-June in the Metaponto plain. No other strawberry in Italy can compare to this one.
The aperitif cocktail is called Strawberry Spritz, made with strawberries, bitters, Prosecco wine, fresh lemon juice, soda and ice cubes. Delicious!
